In-Office Desking - A Basic Guide
This article will help you identify your laptop type and understand which dock/cable configuration to use at your chosen desk.
Laptop Type/Size
We’ll keep it simple and categorize laptops as Small, Medium, and Large.

Small & Medium
- Top and bottom are usually silver in color
- Screen sizes are 13" and 15" approximately
- The keyboard does not have a number pad to the right

Large Laptop
- Usually black or dark-grey in color
- Screen size is approximately 15"
- The keyboard does have a number pad to the right
Dock Cabling and Desks with Wacom
You no-doubt have seen two different docks in-office, but why is that so you ask?
Without getting into all the techy stuff, differing laptop power requirements in combination with the differing monitor resolutions requires this.
2-Cable Docks
- Noted in Yellow on Fishnet Maps

Small & Medium (left image)
- Plug one cable into your laptop (even if there are two ports on the laptop)

Large (right image):
- Plug both cables into your laptop
1-Cable Docks

Small and Medium laptops only

Desks with Wacom Tablets

Medium and Large laptops
- Noted in Yellow on Fishnet Maps
- Plug the dock in to your laptop according to the above information
- Plug the Wacom directly into the HDMI port on your laptop
